Roaring Mountain

This unique geothermal feature, the remains of a steam explosion that occurred during the ice age, is an entire hillside with multiple steaming vents that today can be faintly heard. However, in the early 1900’s the mountain literally roared with sounds loud enough to be heard miles away. It is recommended to visit the site in the early morning when the steam vents are highly visible, more easily heard, and give the appearance of an entire smoldering hillside. The parking lot has 18 vehicle slots and space for a few long RV’s.
