Soda Butte Creek flows through this deep ravine that is mostly shaded and has very little sun exposure. Ice will build up on the canyon walls and canyon floor during winter and stay on the canyon walls well into the summer months and on the canyon floor most of the year. There is no official path to Icebox Canyon, but it can be accessed from a few pull-offs on the south side of the main road and a short hike to the canyon edge.
