Gibbon Meadows is a vast open area often adorned with bison and elk. Wolves and bear can also be seen in the area. The Gibbon River snakes back and forth as it runs through the meadows and provides an excellent home for trout and otters. An early morning visit to the area provides a beautiful view of distant wilderness with hydro-thermal steam rising across the meadows to the west or low hanging cloud banks providing a striking contrast in color.
