Barns Hole Road

Just .35 miles from the West Entrance is an exit on the left side of the road that provides the first access to the Madison River and a secluded location perfect for enjoying a tranquil experience surrounded by nature’s beauty. Less than a mile in the road splits; the road to the right leads directly toward the river where are located 2 picnic tables and benches, and the road to the left veers west paralleling the river about another 1/3 of a mile until it ends where 2 more picnic tables are located near the river’s edge. Here the river is wide and shallow, great for fishing. If not into fishing, it is also a great place for skipping rocks across the river’s surface. The Riverside Trail that originates outside the park in West Yellowstone bisects the road about halfway into the drive.
